On May 15, 2026, the X International Scientific and Practical Conference “Traditional Medicine in Modern Pharmacology” was held at South Kazakhstan Medical Academy.
The conference was organized by the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Pharmacology of SKMA, Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, the Alliance of Hirudotherapists of Kazakhstan, and the “Girudomed” Clinic.

The conference brought together scientists, specialists, and practicing physicians from Kazakhstan, Korea, Belarus, Russia, Poland, Estonia, and Ukraine. The program covered current issues in traditional medicine, modern pharmacology, medical rehabilitation, hirudotherapy, phytotherapy, apitherapy, acupuncture, and personalized approaches to treatment.
Special attention was given to the safety and effectiveness of traditional medicine methods from the perspective of evidence-based medicine, as well as their integration into the modern healthcare system.

As part of the conference, a Young Scientists Competition was held. According to the results of the competition, 1st place was awarded to Aruzhan Sabitovna Turekhanova, lecturer of the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Pharmacology of SKMA, and 2nd place was awarded to Assel Serikbaykyzy Yessengeldi, 1st-year master’s student of SKMA.
All participants of the conference received certificates of participation.
The conference served as an important platform for the exchange of experience, strengthening international cooperation, and supporting young researchers.
